Ghanerao, Ranakpur

Ghanerao is a small principality located between two major cities of Rajasthan, Udaipur and Jodhpur. It was founded in the year 1606. The castle at Ghanerao is built all in red sandstone. The interiors of the magnificent castle are ornately decorated with the crafts and furnishings of the region. It has now been transformed into a Heritage Hotel.

In addition to this castle, step wells, marble archways and ancient temples located in the village are worth exploring. This is not all, Ghanerao is far-famed for its paintings as well. The rich heritage of art that exists here is because of the painters from the courts Bikaner, Mewar and Jodhpur.
